New play area and outdoor music equipment installed
The school recently installed a new playground and set of outdoor musical instruments. Generously part-funded by Waitrose, both of the installations enhance Helen Allison School’s essential outdoor education and recreation space.
Set amongst trees in the corner of the school site, the music space features a range of large, weather-proof instruments, including xylophones and drums.
Located closer to the classrooms, the new playground is fitted out with interactive features that help pupils with balance and coordination, as well as a sand-pit and trampoline.
School Principal Adam Wadey said: “We’re really excited to have added the playground and music space to our outdoor facilities here at Helen Allison School in time for the summer. Both sites are focussed on reducing anxiety and supporting learning. The playground is an important sensory space, and the musical instruments in particular help the pupils when they’re feeling dysregulated and prepare them for learning. We’re incredibly grateful for the donation from Waitrose that allowed us to complete these improvements for our pupils.”
