School parents feature in SEND reform campaign
Two parents of Helen Allison School pupils have featured in the National Autistic Society's campaign responding to the government's proposed SEND reforms.
Many families and teachers have told us the SEND system is not working, which is why the NAS responded to news in February about leaked government plans for reform of the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) system.
Natasha struggled to find a school with the right support for her autistic son, who is now thriving at Helen Allison School. She said in an interview for the campaign: "I cannot believe the change in my own child."

Similarly, finding the right place for Annie’s son changed their world. “It’s changed our whole dynamic of family life. I’m a mum now, not a crusader,” said Annie in a short campaign film.

This is why the NAS launched a survey on SEND Reform in England to hear about families’ experiences with the SEND system and the changes they would like to see.
